This 1,000 page document has not likely been read by our President, or most members of Congress who tout it.
They suffer from "do something!" syndrome. Sometimes, no action is better than nailing yourself right between the eyes with a claw hammer.
Forget, momentarily, about gripes over education level of illegal immigrants, or that they don't speak English and therefore can't ably participate in a functional democracy whose language IS English.
The "triggers" have so many bypass loopholes that they amaze the world's finest cardiac surgeons.
AND this bill makes no distinction between Mexican workers yearning to breathe free and illegal immigrants from state sponsors of terrorism.
Do we really want Juan Valdez & Mamoud al-Turdbaggi to be given equal consideration for probationary status and Z-visas?
Congress can do better. If they don't, we can elect those who can. Hope Browback, Kyl, McCain, Graham, et al remember that before casting their votes as our representatives.
Great points Marcus. We have Syrian terrorists flying around in the air space over this country on dry runs for attacks. If this bill were enacted prior to 911…Mohammad Atta would have been eligible.
